There's drama and heroism at work, whereas in Crait the writers work to yank it away at every turn. Hoth has outgunned Rebels enacting a desperate strategy and succeeding against an Empire that gave the assault everything it had - including an air and space blockade that almost stopped the actual Falcon.
Whoever wrote this admits it has no purpose other than our theme park avatar delivering the YT-1300 cosplaying as the Millennium Falcon to ferry at most a few survivors, and Mopey Sulkmilker distracting a force of idiots who can't run a siege to save their lives and only attack from a single direction when they have the run of the place.
If Crait were merely a rehash of Hoth, it'd be a vast improvement.
